Evan worked alongside his father, Pastor Lorin Carmichael, for many years and served as the Worship Pastor at Sure Foundation Church.  

In 2008, Evan (and Shinobu) became Sure Foundation Hilo's Senior Pastor(s). Sure Foundation Hilo became Arise Church in 2016.

Evan and Shinobu are PKs (Pastor's Kids). They have seen and understood the unique challenges and joys of church ministry. They have both served in practically every area of church ministry in some form or another throughout their lives.

 Evan and Shinobu celebrated 25 years of marriage in July 2024 and have three beautiful children named Zane, Melody, and Jaron. The Carmichaels reside in Hilo, on the beautiful Island of Hawaii, where they enjoy good food, meeting new friends, spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and drinking the best locally grown coffee in the world!
