For many years, Evan worked alongside his father, Pastor Lorin Carmichael, and served as the Worship Pastor at Sure Foundation Church.  

In 2008, Evan (and Shinobu) became the Senior Pastor(s) of Sure Foundation Hilo. Sure Foundation Hilo became Arise Church in 2016.

Evan and Shinobu are PKs (Pastor's Kids).  They have seen and understand the unique challenges and joys that take place in and with church ministry. They have both, in some form or another throughout their lives, served in practically every area of church ministry.

 Evan and Shinobu will be celebrating 24 years of marriage in July 2023 (25 years of marriage in July 2024) and have three beautiful children named Zane, Melody, and Jaron. The Carmichaels reside in Hilo, on the beautiful Island of Hawaii, where they enjoy good food, meeting new friends, doing life with family and friends, watching movies, and drinking the best locally grown coffee in the world!
